- Thanks for looking into beta testing for Pie in the Sky.
-
- Our commitment to quality is as deep as the titanic. To avoid
- potential disaster, we are asking you to help us iron out possible problems
- with our software.
-
- To keep your interest, we offer both fame and fortune. The most helpful
- of the beta testers will get their name mentioned in the game's credits.
- Also a random drawing of all reasonable testers will be made, and the winner
- will receive a free computer game of his/her choice. ( Under $80 )
- (Game must be a currently published game which is readily available.)
-
- What we want is for the testers to play the game for many hours, and
- to give us totally honest feedback by filling out our form and writing
- some paragraphs of impressions.
-
- In many cases, the testers will receive updates of the game with their
- complaints fixed as we perfect the product.
-
- The form to be filled out is BETA.FRM. You may fill it in with a text
- editor, and upload to the BBS, or send it via email at any of the listed
- networks, or you can fill out a printout and send to use via US mail.
-
- What we want on the form:
- -------------------------
-
- 1.) We want bug reports. If you report a crash, we want to know where you
- were in the game, and what you were trying to do when it crashed. If there
- was an error message, copy down the critical error number, and values. You
- have to write it all down WHEN IT HAPPENS, so you can be accurate about
- the position or error diagnostic information.
-
- Use the form CRASH.FRM to report crashes. Copy this file to another name,
- and fill it out digitally, or print it out and fill it in with a pencil.
-
- 2.) We want honest opinions. If you think it stinks, then tell us so, but
- PLEASE tell us why. What we are most interested in is what you would think
- if you downloaded or bought the game at the store. What things would bother
- you in comparison to other games? We know our game is far from perfect, and
- want to find out what bothers people the most.
-
- 3.) We appreciate your ideas for additions, but we will have to balance the
- cost in man hours or RAM or disk space required against the gains from the
- idea. For example, suggesting that we switch to a gourand-shaded polygon
- model like Strike Eagle III, is just not constructive. Keep in mind that
- there has been a significant investment in the current game, and we aren't
- going to make any big changes in the engine or theme at this date.
-
- Example of good suggestion: How about a gas grenade which confuses guards?
- Example of bad suggestion: How about drivable M1 Tanks which do jumps?
-
-
-
- How to do the testing:
- ----------------------
- 1.) Play around with the game some.
- 2.) Read all the DOC files, and skim over the the BETA.FRM questions.
- 3.) Try earnestly to reach the goal of the game. Read HINTS.DOC if
- you need clues on how to get through all the levels.
- 4.) Fill out the form BETA.FRM with a text editor, or pen on a printout
- 5.) Return the form to Pie in the Sky by July7, 1993
